Explore a whole new way of living

Permaculture isn’t solely about the land; it’s about the heart.

Some of us are drawn to permaculture through gardening, community gardens, or organic food.
Some of us are drawn to it through environmentalism and a desire to lessen our environmental impact.
There are others who knows there’s another way of living, one built on community, communication, intentional action, and care.
If you fall into all of these categories, you’ve come to the right place.

INTRODUCING…

YOUR INSTRUCTORS

We’re Michael Schimp (he/they) & Helen Tremethick (she/they), co-founders and complementary team members of Three Acre Permaculture.

Michael brings two decades of permaculture education and experience along with a long history with growing plants, arboriculture, social permaculture, and facilitation. He has founded founded community gardens, led the Seed Library initiatives, taught at Seedy Saturdays and conferences, and has a tendency to guerrilla plant native trees wherever possible.

Helen brings a love of plants and nature but an affinity with the technical and admin side of things. Helen made this website you’re looking at as well as the various registration forms. She also makes a decent cup of tea.

Testimonials

What Our Students Say About Us

“There was so much to learn about permaculture which for me, meant learning how to live organically and equitably with native and non-native plants in their natural surroundings. I enjoyed the course, especially the teaching from the knowledgeable facilitators, Michael and Adrian, who incorporated a variety of practical and theoretical skills.”

Charmaine

“Best. Course. Ever.”

Ben

“After completing the permaculture class, my dad and I finished up a chicken coop and got 5 hens. I’m currently making plans to widen my garden, using all that I learned in your course. In a few years, I hope to start up my own little farm.”
